What would it be like to spend 4 days with … well, with your identical twin? Would you be able to stand yourself for that length of time? This theory was put to the test this weekend when I went to visit my SC Twin, Cathy.
We met online back in April and became fast friends. The similarities between us (our likes and dislikes) were almost uncanny. We called ourselves “Twin Daughters of Different Mothers”. So, I got a ticket for an aeroplane (ain’t got time to take a fast train) and went on down to Columbia, SC for the long weekend.
We had such fun!! We went to the movies (“Roger Dodger”), watched Eddie (“And pears can fuck off too”), played in the paints at a pottery place where you create your own artwork (and I use that term loosely when I refer to our pieces!), met one of the Moms (hers), entertained a book club, ate a bit much food, drank lattes at Barnes and Noble and visited Shoe Carnival. WHEW!!
When it was time to say goodbye, we both were a bit sad. I told her Sunday night “This is the first time I’ve spent this much time around someone and didn’t get sick of them” and she replied “Of course not. You’re hanging around with YOURSELF!!” (We see the light bulb go on over Lisa’s head!!) And it was true. I was totally and 100% comfortable with her – more than I am with most people.
Anyway, I had a great time and plan to go back (AND get her butt up here to noVA where she can marvel at the traffic and hub-bub!). We are friends for life – I just know it!!
Anyway, “5 ran and one sauntered really and one drove a small car”. And I have my twin in SC who loves me!
I’m glad you and “twin” had such a great time! But I did miss you around here.
