I’m sitting here listening to “Clocks” by Coldplay and just thinking about how much I like this song. It totally grew on me. At first I just kept hearing it and thinking it was interesting. Then I remember going to “Jammin Java” with Detwiler and hearing it play in the background. From then on, every time I heard it, I would think back to that afternoon.
Recently, I’ve been hearing it alot again and realized how much I love the piano in it. In fact, I cannot put to words how I feel when I hear that piano refrain. It makes me wish that I could play piano (even poorly).
The lyrics:
Clocks
The lights go out and I can’t be saved
Tides that I tried to swim against
Have brought me down upon my knees
Oh I beg, I beg and plead singing
Come out of things unsaid
Shoot an apple off my head and a
Trouble that cant be named
A tiger’s waiting to be tamed singing
You are
You are
Confusion never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know singing
Come out upon my seas,
Cursed missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure
Or am I part of the disease, singing
You are, you are, you are
You are, you are, you are
And nothing else compares
And nothing else compares
And nothing else compares
You are
You are
Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go
Babylon (currently my most favorite song ever ever ever) was like that as well. I remember hearing it but it just didn’t connect. Then one day, out of nowhere, I heard it and BLAM! It hit me like a ton of bricks. And now, it’s on just about every cd I make (in all its various permutations).
Is there a song that grew on you? And if so, how?
