Yep, this would be me at one of my happy places – on the water (almost literally) with a book in hand and no one else around. Quite nice, I must say.

We are back from St. Michaels, MD and I’m happy to report that we had a lovely time. It was serene, peaceful (except for Mr. Chathead (and no, that’s not a euphemism for H)) and relaxing. Pretty much what the doctor ordered for this burnt out from work chick.

We stayed at Folly’s Cove B&B and I was glad to be in the guesthouse rather than the main house since that’s where the aforementioned Mr. ChatHead was. And that, my friends, is the main reason I am not thrilled about staying at a B&B to begin with. Somehow, you always manage to get stuck near someone who, in the guise of being “friendly”, won’t shut the hell up! I knew it had to be bad when H (quite the gregarious one himself) reported to me that there was a “talker” over by the pool. I must have been giving off “Stay away” vibes because Mr. ChatHead did not come near me. (Of course, I spent the bulk of my outside time on the pier with a book – a pose that does not welcome chatsters so that might have accounted for it).

Here’s the view from my cozy vantage point looking back at the main house:

Anyway, mostly we ate, slept, read, shopped and ate some more. I attribute my 2 pound gain to some yummy ice cream and the french toast I had for breakfast this morning. I also had THE BEST hard crabs (crabs-plural, Dr. D!) at The Crab Claw. They were AWESOME!!! The only ones I had last year were some monsterously pooty ones in Milford DE at a crab feast. These were the way I remember them being from my childhood – warm, meaty, juicy and just spicy enough. YUMMM!! I snarfed them down in record time! I am a Maryland girl for sure, hon!

Anyway, as you can tell, it was a nice 2 day get-away which we enjoyed quite a bit. Did my poor soul good.

*What the hell is a piper-bar? I have no idea. But I had a dream Friday night that a girl called me snooty because I didn’t have to work at a piper bar. Well, of course! No one should work at a piperbar! heheh (H and I goofed on that theme all weekend long and promptly ran that joke into the ground!)

Big thanks to my friend and Godmommy of da peegs, Sharon, for taking Max on short notice. I don’t think she reads these pages but if she does, I’m sending a huge shout-out to you, girl!!

Sounds like a wonderful long weekend escape! I am jealous, because MY weekend was fully of estrogen and slasher instead. Next time send Bill to my house and let’s escape to the B&B together!
