Happy Birthday to Twinnie the elder

October 15, 2003 Written by site admin

Happy Happy Happy Birthday to my SC Twin! She is (mumbles something) years old today. Hope your day is fantabulous!

This is for you!

Caps news: Caps lost to Montreal 5-1. UGH. It was a debacle. I gave up at the end of the 2nd Period. I just couldn’t watch any longer. Does that make me a fair weather fan? I hope not.

Didja notice the Word of the Day thingy on the side bar there? Today’s word is WOWSER but it ain’t what you think it might mean. At least, it wasn’t what *I* thought it might mean. Check it out.

Ah yes, that doggone Universe at work again. I found out that Wayne Dyer is speaking at a convention/fair in Philly on Sunday and contemplated going (even alone – I don’t any other woo-woo types like me around here). My nephew Justin plays on a hockey team who periodically have games in the Philly area but his game was Saturday am. So, no chance of hooking the two things together and getting to see Wayne Dyer. And then BLAMMO! The universe intervenes. Turns out Justin’s game is at 6 on Sunday. Dyer speaks 3-5 on Sunday. So, there you go. And there I go. Got my tix this morning. That should be interesting. More info here (should you care).

(faces east, bows and thanks the Universe for this gift)

Currently, learning to detach is my lesson. A blip from the website:

Family Circle: You also recommend the art of detachment, calling it “one of life’s great lessons.” What do you mean?

Dyer: I mean detach from the opinions of others; from the habit of judging or controlling others; from the past; from the need to be right and to win; from an obsession with material things. Follow your passion in life, but detach from the outcome and allow the universe to handle the details. (emphasis mine)

Damn, it’s hard to do this. I know I make it look easy (ha ha ha, riiiiight) but inside, it can get quite hectic while I am working to detach. “Learn to love with an open hand” said Pastor Brown. I take that as the same as learning to detach. Give what you can and expect nothing in return. (But, bleah!! It’s hard.)

Whine, Whine, Whine.

Isn’t that what blogs are for??

The game was a total wash. I also gave up after the second period (well, I gave them a few minutes into the third, but that was a waste of time). I don’t think we’re fair weather fans, we just know when a comeback just isn’t happening. Oh, I saw that Eddie guy on HBO the other night. Fucking hilarious. Never seen him before, but he’s damn funny. Not Snapper-funny, but few people can be!
