Chattin on da Eddie fone wit Eddie!

October 29, 2003 Written by site admin

Well, I was going to wait on this post until I had the official picture to share but one of the Goddaughters ‘O Love hasn’t sent it yet.

(Prods Christine with a tiny badger)

What can I say about night #2 with Eddie? It was FANTABULOUS to the nth degree. Really close seats afforded us as intimate an experience of Eddie as we are likely to have in this lifetime. He looked gorgeous (wearing the same outfits as the previous evening) and was just in full on “Eddie mode”.

There’s no sense in trying to relay his stuff. If you know Eddie, you know that doing so doesn’t even come close to the essence of his show. So, I won’t.

I will, however, tell you that we got to meet him and contrary to THIS account of it, he was not freaked out by me. Well, I don’t think he was.

See, the goddaughters and I had wornTshirts with obscure Eddie-isms on it. He recognized mine (“The New Queue” (from Definite Article)) and my one goddaughters (“Oh Adolph. How romantic” (from D2K)) but he couldn’t place the other one (“PS: nothing” – again from Definite Article.) I said “Eddie! Come on! Definite Article! … postcards from Pliny the younger” and he said “You really know this stuff, don’t you?” and smiled at me.

Well, that’s how *I* plan to remember it, anyway. (At least I wasn’t humming to myself or discussing my plans to come out as a transvestite to total strangers!)

Eddie was great in person. He stayed both nights to sign autographs and take pics for anyone that waited and was very nice (albeit a tad tired looking). Going to both shows, sitting that close to the stage and finally, meeting him have been highlights of this year for me.

So yes. This is all true.

I am blogging this instead of watching the usual Caps debacle on the telly at present. I just couldn’t watch it anymore. 4-1 in the top of the 3rd period and we ain’t the ones with 4. Dag. (sad sigh)

Back at work and a fun time was had by all. Actually, I didn’t mind being back and I got a nice surprise. Detwiler gave me his warm, fuzzy jacket with the company name on it and Brokerage Ops on the side. I’ve been lusting after that article of clothing for quite some time and he said he just decided to give it to me. That made my day. I think he’s such a good guy. Truly one of my best buddies there (and anywhere, really).

Oh, and this horrorscope is sort of oddly prescient, methinks:

You’d like to leave the past where it belongs, but you keep getting little reminders of things gone by. If you haven’t already taken down old photos and letters from the person you can’t forget about, this is the time to do it. Sometimes, merely looking at it causes you to take an undesired trip down Memory Lane. There’s no reason to throw old memorabilia away, but there’s also no reason to have it out in plain sight. The past is gone, but your future is waiting.
