Weary after an emotional visit with his wife, Schiavo said he is astonished that politicians want to interfere in such a private matter.
“Instead of worrying about my wife, who was granted her wishes by the state courts the past seven years, they should worry about the pedophiles killing young girls,” Schiavo said, referring to a local case. “Why doesn’t Congress worry about people not having health insurance? Or the budget? Let’s talk about all the children who don’t have homes.”
He said U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who is leading a charge to extend Terri Schiavo’s life, is a “little slithering snake” pandering for votes.
“To make comments that Terri would want to live, how do they know?” Schiavo said of the members of Congress who want to keep his wife alive.
“Terri died 15 years ago,” Schiavo said, referring to the collapse and cardiac arrest that doctors say virtually destroyed her brain. “It’s time for her to be with the Lord like she wanted to be.”
Even if it were the Democrats butting in like this, I would STILL be opposed to it. This totally negates the whole purpose of the judicial system. And what galls me more than anything is that they (and you know who I mean) are doing it (it = “advocating” for her (against her wishes, mind you)) to further their own agenda. And don’t even say they’re not. Maybe I’m terribly cynical but it’s more than crystal clear to me. Dubs comes off vacation early? WTF? He didn’t do that for pre 9-11 warnings, he didn’t do it when the Tsunami disaster hit. But for this he comes back? Yeah. Tell me he ain’t pandering to his “base”. There are no words strong enough for how I feel about this administration and what they are doing to this country. It makes me terribly sad and while I know the pendulum will swing back to the middle, I can only hope that it happens before irreversible damage takes place.
I’d say “Bless them, o Lord, for they know not what they do” but sadly, they DO know what they do. And they don’t care.
