Being an adult means …

September 5, 2005 Written by Lisa

* Realizing that keeping your cool midlife crisis-mobile is, in fact, COSTING you way too much for the (small) amount you use it.

* Agreeing with Duty that selling it (and taking a $5000 hit thankyouverymuch) is the best course of action right now given rising gas prices and a longer commute to work for him.

* Kissing said CMCM goodbye in the parking lot of Annapolis Honda and saying “Thanks for all the convertible therapy”.

* Driving home in a smaller, less expensive but much more fuel efficient Honda Civic that is a rather BRIGHT! shade of blue.

Yep, these are the days of our adulthood. I suppose that, as Duty remarked, the house is our toy now. I know it’s a good decision and except for the $5000 crap we took on it, it’s the right thing. I don’t think I was cool enough for that car anyway.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, parties are for me to attend and not give. I’ve decided this because this little introvert of the highest order (me) crashes and burns the day after any party, whether the GOL is here forcing me to watch her make food items from scratch or not. :) I did have fun, though. Next up at Casa de Snarkola – THANKSGIVING! I’ve done that before at the mother’s house so that won’t be allllll that bad (look for a whining post the day after – you’ve been warned) and then we are done until summer rolls around again.

I start an eight week class in Energy Coaching tomorrow (every Tuesday for 2 hours). While this is along the woo woo line, it’s a bit less ethereal and just a tad more grounded. I thought it would be a good way for me to learn concrete ways for coaching clients using Energy theory. Really just more tools in the tool belt, as it were.

And I don’t know about you but I feel like my damn head is going to explode when I real how deeply and completely the government has fucked up help to those devastated by Katrina. The more I read, the more pissed I get that there are still a plethora of people out there being apologists for bush! WTF is wrong with you all?

Do you not get that if this had happened in your backyard and your ass was starving, wading around in your own filth, you’d want to know WHY your government, to whom you pay fucking money to take care of this exact kind of shit, left you out to dry?

And wouldn’t you be just a tad pissed, sitting there in your squalor, all your pets, house and belongings GONE to know that they were too damn busy being on vacation to be of help to you?And not only that, but that had they not been playing “Let’s kill everyone in Iraq”,“Let’s bring democracy to Iraq”, there just might have been enough money to protect you and/or get aid to you before you drowned to death in your nursing home? (Smacks her own head against the wall)

From Americablog (amazingly, I do read places other than Kos!):

George Bush STAYED ON VACATION. He didn’t get back to work. When the worst natural disaster in our nation’s history attacked us, George Bush STAYED ON VACATION. Why did the federal government stumble so badly on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday? Because on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, George Bush STAYED ON VACATION in Crawford, Texas. On Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday, vice president Dick Cheney STAYED ON VACATION in Jackson, Wyoming. On Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday, Sec. of State Condi Rice WENT ON VACATION in New York City and went to a splashy Broadway musical and bought obscenely expensive shoes.

How much simpler can it be for people to understand? Disaster struck and no one in the Bush administration cared. If they cared, Bush and Cheney and Rice would have gone back to work.

To all those who think George is just peachy keen I say this: Move your ass over to somewhere else, crown him king of all that is and ever will be and leave the rest of us alone. Because we can see what you all cannot – he is a sociopath asswipe and so are the rest of his craven cabal. That is flat out my opinion. This is my blog and my space and that’s how I feel. It’s a damn shame where this country is now.

And while I try to live and breathe “Harm none”, don’t think for a minute that I don’t agree with this sentiment:

The best thing that could happen to George Bush and the USA is for him to go back, heavily, into drugs and booze and quickly roll off a cliff while riding his bike, playing a guitar and eating some cake. Televised, of course.
