And t’was not I who be spokin’ them, alas:
From a comment on a diary at ye olde DailyKos re: little Scooter’s speechifying:
No, mr bush. standing at that podium looking anything but repentant, you mock the american people. you stomp on the bodies left in the wake of your incompetence with your platitudes and false concern. we all know you could care less about the people suffering in the wake of your lack of concern. and then you would have the audacity to call yourself a christian! that you are not, sir!
i highly doubt jesus would want anything to do with your kind were he here right now. he railed against people like you when he was alive! and i am sure his fate would be the same as it was then were he to have to deal with you… you have proven several times over through the course of your tenure as president just how unchristian youreally are. that explains why you have to keep announcing it to everyone… true christians don’t need to tell people… you can tell by their actions… their compassion… and their desire to treat others with kindness.
I would add that true COMPASSIONATE beings (Christian or Jews or Pagans) allow their actions to show their beliefs, not their words. Not everyone can get down into the streets of Calcutta like Mother Teresa and minister to the sick and dying. But each of us can show compassion to our fellow wo/man with things like a smile, or a kind word or donating time and/or items to help those in less fortunate circumstances. And I think if you look beyond bush and his administration’s words, you will see that their actions totally tell you their beliefs. Which is but one reason we are mucking around in the mess they’ve made now. I won’t place ALL the blame for the ills of the US and its shortcomings on this little group of imbeciles but I will give them the lion’s share of it for they deserve all that. When we look back at this turning point in our nation’s history, many of us will be horrified that we let it go on for as long as we did.
It sure ain’t pretty, but it is a lesson we are being forced to learn now.
