Hahahha (I’m the first chick pictured there petitioning for relief from saggage. I need a face lift stat!)
So, tomorrow we depart for gay, gay Paris where we will eat, drink, oogle french men, and of course, pray. :) Can’t leave that part out, can we?
This is my first overseas trip since I went to London in (gasp!) 1976. Mary’s friend Sue and her sister Cissy coordinated the entire trip for us and bless them both. Looks like they’ve got us booked at a couple good hotels. The one in Paris is just a walk from the Eiffel Tower and other places of note. It took me a while to get excited about the trip mostly because I wasn’t sure it would actually happen. It was based entirely on GOL’s white cell count and whether she could withstand the trip. But seems like everything is a go, so now I’m excited. I am so so so thankful Duty is going. He’s the well seasoned traveler and knows his way around an airport and exchange rates and whatnot. Look for a post or two from the road depending on internet access.
The yuck that settled in upon me recently seems to have passed. Sometimes I find that doing stuff for someone else takes me out of my own internal ick. (makes a note of that) I went to visit mom on Wednesday and washed her feet (since she can’t bathe in a tub, they get kind of grubby) and polished her nails. By the time I left, I felt like a big weight had been lifted and I could feel some joy. Not sure why or how that happened, but I liked it. I’m not going to worry about jobs or any other crappola while I’m away. I’m just going to be in the moment and enjoy my time with my family and soak up the sacred space at Lourdes.
Peace out, y’all!
