General Blatherings

…. I sent around one of those goofy “how well do you know me” emails and got some interesting stuff back.

For example, my godmommy thinks a good nickname for me would be “Miss Independent” (if you look at my family background, then I definitely was that, for sure. What? Move out for no reason other than to want to be on your own?? At 24??? The horror! I can still see my grandfather shaking his head at me saying “How could you leave your mother?” And not only did I live on my own but (gasp!) I lived with men who were NOT my husband! Looking back, I see that it was a good idea they weren’t as I would easily be divorced now. So, yeah, I think the nickname fits within that context.

Most who responded think that were I to be stranded on a desert island I would take a computer (provided the island had wireless, of course). If not, then a pen and a book for writing would be suitable. Yeah, gotta go with that answer. As long as I have the ability and implements to write, I’m generally happy. Charlie thinks I would take a telephone. Clearly, he doesn’t know me post call center careers! I despise the telephone and don’t use it unless I absolutely must. Everyone knows I’m happier emailing. In fact, several wrote that checking my email was one of my favorite things to do (man, that’s sad but true). La told me that I was always around on email - more than anyone she knew. If I didn’t know her better, I’d think she was taking a swipe at me! heheh But she was right. Even at work I keep my gmail open and can see when there’s new mail.

Discussing my talents, most commented on my writing ability and ease with words. Mary (Cousin ‘O Love) pointed out that I converse with angels as a talent (she’s right, I do) so she gets extra biggie ups for that. She also wins the award for best “favorite memory of me” comment: loving my daughter Lauren with your whole heart and soul although Charlie was a close second with his: Driving in front of Stephen King’s house and you jumping out of the car like a psycho. See, here’s the cool thing - I can love with ALL my heart and soul *AND* be a psycho at the same time! Wooo Hoo! heheh (remind me to tell you the Stephen King’s house story sometime. It’s pretty funny.)

As to whether I am shy or outgoing, most got it right - it depends on the situation. In new places where I’m trying to get a read on things, I tend to hang back just a bit at first. However, when I am comfortable with my situation, I’m pretty out there. I think I’ve always been like that, though. In a work situation, I am a bit more outgoing and vocal. However, take me to a social situation where I don’t know anyone? I will stand in the corner, be bored and want to go home (and check email!).

It was a fun thing to send out and get back. More on this in another post. “Pups” to all who responded.

How interesting to compare the responses of your friends with your own?
