First, thanks and love to Cousin ‘O Flair and Hockey Kim for their contribs to my latest “Things about me” list. Some of Flair’s stuff was so inside that even *I* had to think back a ways on it. (Although I did immediately get the “ELSM” song reference and its special meaning. hehe Ah, the folly of drunken 16 year olds!)
And Hockey Kim’s sweetness made me get all teary-eyed. Dammit. You know how hard it is to make me cry. (snicker snicker) (Thank you, girlfriend and right back atcha!)
But are you getting that I might have just a touch of, oh shall we say, control issues?? Both my Godmommy and Cousin ‘O Flair mentioned that tid-bit. I think I was a really bossy child. (Shhh! I try not to be as bossy now. I am a work in progress. So there.)
And second, speaking of her Royal Hockey Majesty, Miss Kim will be the guest blogger at ye olde Snarkypantalons while I am off on a mountain learning to tend to those who are shuffling off this mortal coil. Be NICE to her, send her love and pucks and whatnot. I will have wireless internets while I am on the mountain so there shall be no spazzing out about being out of the political loop or email loop while I am gone (like last time).
For your own personal edification, here’s what I will be studying:
Facing Death with New Awareness
Rev. Carol Parrish and Rev. Linda Oliver
Understanding that death is life too, participants are taught how to cope with personal grief and how to facilitate a support system. The mysteries of death and dying are re-explored using a plethora of source materials and personal experiences. This valuable orientation aids in facing one’s own mortality, assisting others in making their transition, and supporting survivors.
Coping with Spiritual Emergencies
Rev. Carol Parrish and Rev. Linda Oliver
Humanity faces change at every juncture, sometimes creating spiritual emergencies. Poised between the known and the unknown, evolutionary forces push us forward, yet few understand expanded realities. As we encounter experiences hard to fathom, we must rework the old and familiar in order to be made new.
And my advisor, Katherine, will be presenting a one day workshop that sounds sooo cool. I can’t wai
ESOTERIC INSIGHTS TO DEATH:
A Comparison of Clinical and Esoteric Explanations of the Dying Process
Rev. Katherine James
In providing care to the terminally ill, often it is not simply a matter of medicating pain symptoms that completely addresses the issues of suffering. Frequently it is necessary to view patients’ distress from the perspective of spiritual care.In this workshop, the comparison of the esoteric teachings of death and dying to a medical model is intended to provide terminally ill persons, their loved ones, and care givers with new insights in preparation for a more peaceful death. The workshop content includes a clinical description of dying; the function of the etheric body; a description of the gradual withdrawal of the soul from the physical body; the relationship of the chakras to the process of dying; nearing death awareness; and the role of the silver cord and the physical permanent seed atom at the moment of death.
Discussion includes the topics of spiritual distress, terminal agitation, dreams and nightmares, hallucinations, bedside apparitions, visions, calling out to the unseen, last requests, and the symbolic language of the dying.
And is it a sad commentary on my job that I’d rather tend to the dying than process account transfers and listen to Screamy bitch out random fellow employees? Yeah, I know. It is.
Adios for now, kids!
Ohhhh!!! Have fun sweetie and soak up the woo-woo. We will miss you!
I can’t wait to see how this transforms you.
I have this calling as well. As hard as it was one of the most amazing things I have ever done was help my FIL cross over.
Have a great time.
Love Ya!
Hey Ms. Lisa
Hope you have a good trip to woo woo world
Sincerly
