“The best thing for being sad,” replied Merlyn… “is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world around you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honor trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then – to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the thing for you.”
And so I shall learn! Why, today I learned that Cookie didn’t sprain his knee doing the backbend of teh sexiness, he just strained a thigh muscle! I also learned that Sophia will bite my arm if I hold her a millisecond too long (OW!) and that someone *coughdutycough* didn’t remember to buy more coffee so I am working on less caffeine than usual. The beatings will have to resume, clearly.
Thanks, Billy, for the unbooping!
[…] in T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone. You can find the full quote with relevant points HERE, but it is summed up in the first words: “The best thing for being sad is to learn.” […]
:D I can read this quote over and over again. I’m glad you liked it! The whole book (T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone) is really fantastic.
No caffeine!? The beatings must increase in both frequency and intensity until more arrives!
Thanks for the linkage. I’m reciprocating in my next post as I have decided that your woo-woo stuff is more than just a pastime in my life now.
Have you considered biting back? O_o
