Trends of the week

June 25, 2009 Written by Lisa

I’ve always been able to see patterns of things – like a big picture view of stuff. Many times, they don’t add up to anything (that I can determine, anyway) but I see them nonetheless. Here are a few I’ve noticed since my return from WooWoo Central:

1. Being at work exhausts me in a way that it never has. I don’t know if it’s coming back from the higher vibrations of the Seminary, catching up on all the leftover stuff plus all the “do you have time to send out a 500 piece mailing by tomorrow?” (WTF?) or just having to be present for everyone (who seems to have missed me terribly. They are all over me every damn day.) Whatever it is, I don’t want to go there and I cannot wait to leave. Once I’m out of there, I feel increasingly better and by the time I get home, I am re-energized. Not sure what all this is about but it’s not making re-entry easier.

2. Everyone around me (IRL and virtually) are having babies! It’s so nice to see the videos and hear the stories about them. While I am fine with the way the Universe worked things out in this lifetime for me, one of my greatest joys is baby-holding. And interacting with kids in general. Whenever anyone from work brings their kids in, we gravitate toward each other. It’s kind of nice, really. (Best part, though, is turning them back over to the ‘rents and going to read a book and eat cereal for dinner. Shhh!)

Continuing that theme, though – I wonder what message I can take re: all the new life that is around me. Might the Uni be telling me to view things with a fresh perspective? I am certainly open to that and have gone through my own (re)birth on some things as well. I trust that I’ll find out soon enough.

One thing that isn’t a trend but is bugging the shit out of me: Democrat or Republican – if you abdicate your responsibilities to your elected office and don’t let anyone know where you’re going when you’re abdicating, then you should step down from your elected post. But what you do with regard to your love life is no one’s business but yours (and, of course, the respective parties involved). And I am appalled at the media splashing the emails of Governor Sanford and someone else across our television screens. Who among us has not written some seriously sappy shit to another? Would any of us want that out there for all to see and laugh at? I sure don’t.

Bottom line: Discussing his duties and abdication thereof? Fair game. Even discussing his hypocrisy over it all is fair game. But putting those letters up there? Completely out of bounds. And the glee people are getting from reading them and making fun of them will come back to bite them in the ass. Just sayin.

That’s all for now, kids. Enjoy your day! (Can I call in sick to work???)

Do you think you could be suffering from Baby Lust? This plagued me, regardless of who I was sleeping with (or even when I wasn’t sleeping with anyone) during my fertile time. It got stronger and stronger the closer I came to menopause. I even remember that, when cutting through Sears to get to the bus stop, I passed a rack of nursing bras and CRIED. Simply because I saw nursing bras! Baby Lust can be very powerful.

I wonder if you’re tiredness doesn’t come from how emotional it was for you to be visible, and trying to incorporate all you learned into you daily life. I know that at the retreat you weren’t plowing the back 40, but it may have been as emotionally exhausting as it was enlightening.

I dunno. Maybe I’m less compassionate than I should be about Gov. Sanford’s troubles because I’m from Illinois. We WISH our governors would get embroiled in nice, juicy sex scandal instead of all this perjury and graft. Our former governor is already in prison, his successor is awaiting trial and his wife has just returned from the jungle. So it takes a lot to before I say, “ENUF!”

    Rebirth.

    Your workplace is negative.

Umm…..Is the workplace ACTUALLY so negative or are you placing onto it something important for you to see and understand?

    We create it all.
