Peaceful pool time

I think the whole reason I am able to get myself to the gym at all is because after I do my time on the treadmill (23 minutes currently aiming for 30 consistently by month end) is because I get to go in the pool afterwards. The water is heated to 90 degrees and I can get right in without that icky “getting used to the water temperature” feeling I experience with our outdoor pool. And it’s rare that there’s a lot of noise or splashy-splashy going on at the time of day I’m there (6pm-ish). Today was almost perfect. Three other people in the water plus me, all of us quietly doing our little water floaties. It was peace personified. Just the water and the silence. (I love the silence.)

My coach mentioned that it makes sense that I’d feel at home, at peace in the water – water is equated with emotion and I am nothing but a big ball of feeling most of the time. I was particularly aware today of how I feel complete when I’m in the water – I don’t feel weighed down by my body, and I can just BE. It’s a wonderful feeling.

Where’s your place of peace?

And the Conversation Goes like this...

Water always works for me, too! I love the sense of quiet and solitude, even when the pool is full. Baths and even showers work, too. There’s something just so healing about the water. It’s like stroking a soft dog ear and putting my ear against a cat tummy and hearing a purr. Natural sensations that are nurturing.
