… but swear to God, I cannot take people yammering on and on about themselves seeking attention. It’s pinging me big time. SHUT UP!
(Like I said, I fully recognize how this entire 15-year adventure on ye olde Snarkypants is all about ME all the time. But at least you have to want to come here (and bless you, 3 people) and read it. It’s not rolling by on your FB feed.)
I look at this sort of like a diary and it seems a lot of people use Facebook for that purpose although there’s such a component of LOOK AT ME!!! videos and food pictures and stuff, that it drives me NUTS. Jesus, all the needy people.
One person on my feed posts when she’s going to take a nap and 80 reasons why it’s okay for her to do that because of all the work she’s doing. (She feels she needs to justify everything and I get that. Still. No one cares about your nap.)
As I’m sure my teachers would say “What about me isn’t willing to be seen and take up space that way?” – not that I want to, necessarily, but am I willing. Nor am I willing to show that I am needy (we’ve discussed this before, have we not?).
The answer is no. At least not today. I am in a mood.
Mad at a couple people, most of all myself for not owning who I am and what I do. Mad at people telling me you’re too much of this and be less of that. I called Ted Cruz a smarmy motherfucker on Facebook and Duty told me to watch my language online and he didn’t want to see that come up on his wall.
Now, because I love him, I will be mindful of his wishes but if anyone else had told me that, I would not have taken it well. (And to be honest, I really didn’t take it well when he told me his feelings.) But, actions have consequences and that’s one of mine so there ya go.
This week has just been a peevy, surly mess for me. On the bright side, I did go to the gym Monday and will go tomorrow as well. So, there’s that.
I hate the world.
Also too: Prince has been very quiet. Not sure what that’s about.
I have a friend who quit using Facebook altogether — even though, as a PR rep, she should be on it like I am all damn day as part of her job — because “I’m sick of conceited parents bragging about their children.” Her youngest son is putting her through changes with his ADD and inability to get into college (or to attempt the work required if he really wanted to). She sounds a bit like you.
Facebook is superficial. I only have 69 FB friends and the people I’m closest to IRL aren’t among them, and I struggle to get all the way through my feed. I imagine you have a gazillion FB friends, so I can only imagine what your feed is like. Maybe you need a social media vacation. Maybe you’d feel better if you turned off the noise for a while.
Holy mother of all the world I can relate to this! I’m so over winter. I’m so over Trump (unfortunately, that bullshit is just beginning). I’m over everything.
Prince has been quiet. That is interesting. Perhaps he’s “modeling” for you? Does he want you to be quiet, too? There’s a thread of that in this post. Yes, I totally agree with you that it’s our choices to read your blog (and I love doing so), but the hint from Duty? Wondering. Is Prince’s quiet a message to BE quiet? And, if so, why?
