Ah, we meet again..
How is everyone doing this morning? Well? Good. Great, actually.
After looking at those videos of cool cars, I began to search for other videos of cool science in action. Three of the cool videos I have to show you guys tonight were introduced to me by my father, the biggest nerd of all time.
The first video is a neat trick that involves a microwave— it’s something that should not be tried at home.
The second video is a pretty cool physics trick that involves a microwave and water that has been left alone for long enough that all the impurities escape. Once a glass is full of pure h2o, and no more air bubbles and the like, it can be microwaved and heated well above the boiling point. Once the water is heated to that point, the moment an impurity is added, the water will boil violently. First watch a cup of superheated water. Then see a cool application of superheated water. [I wish I had details about how superheated water can be utilized to make a rocket.. I’m brushing up on my German, so maybe I can ask those guys someday]
Finally.. I have two fun videos that I found.. The first involves small little explosions that you CAN play with at home [Yay!] And the second is a car commercial that I remember seeing a long time ago. [Interesting little fact I read: Apparently the makers of the Honda commercial were planning on giving up if this last take didn’t work out. Good thing it did! It only took 600+ attempts.]
I hope you enjoyed those videos as thoroughly as I did. I now realize the irony of my two posts… The first about how I want to save the environment, and the second consisting of blowing things up! More of both types of posts are likely to come later on.
