So, yeah. If you’re pals with me on FB, you already know that I got a beautiful ring while we were in Rehoboth Beach on our anniversary trip. And I think I even like it better than the one I saw a month or so ago. It’s really me and I was able to receive it with love. I also received with love a dozen roses and a spa facial, all planned and paid for by Duty.
It was a nice, relaxing vacation even though it rained like a big dog and we only got about an hour to sit on the non-sunny beach. I did see something that made me giggle while standing at the water’s edge though. Duty was getting his feet wet in the surf and over to my right, a woman (probably early 30s?) in a dress came running and jumping down the sand, plowing directly into the ocean.
It looked like it might have been her first time ever at the ocean and her joy was infectious. She held the bottom of her dress up a bit but she didn’t care at all about getting wet. She was just jumping and playing and it made me so happy to watch her. Usually, it’s just little kids who show that kind of happiness so this was a bonus.
Duty said “she going to get her dress all wet” and I said it looked like she didn’t care one little bit. And she didn’t. Made my entire day and I have a feeling I will remember that scene for quite a while. (I think if I ever write a book, I’ll work it in there, somehow.)
Below top is the beach (Slaughter Beach) where we got married 15 years ago and the bottom is from the porch of the room we stayed in looking out at the ocean from Rehoboth Beach.
It was a lovely, lovely time.
