Look what I got Dave as a going away present:
(I won’t explain further except to say his comment when we moved was that he was stuck in the “Milton cubicle”.)
Tomorrow is his last day here … after 3 1/2 years. That doesn’t sound like a long time in the grand scheme of things, but you have to know that 3 1/2 years in FFN time is like 300 years at a normal job what with all the ups and downs and whatnot.
He came right after me in March 2000 (back in those halcyon “DotCom” days when the cabinets overflowed with treats and the soda machines were chock full). We’ve been partners through thick and thin here. He’s off to George Mason to attend law school (starts Monday) and next summer he gets married. It’s nice to see how happy he is.
Herewith is the corny poem I wrote for his goodbye card (yes, I know it’s goofy as all hell. No need to comment on that further):
Ode to a dawg
?Back in the day?, oh yes, there were many
Three years gone by fast
Few are left, really, if any
Days spent answering stupid questions
Working funky hours
?Does she call me Ween?? and
Bosses without any powers
Life at FFN made ever more bearable
By a couple good friends and IM powers
Time to play games (kill, marry, F)
And goof away the hours.
Good friends at this place are few
And despite the corniness of this poem
Of all the ones I?ve made here
The best of them is you.
Bye Davey – good luck!! Keep in touch or you’re a dead man (said with love and snark).
