Ah! The leisurely life. This year no traffic to contend with, no worries about having to have dinner ready at a certain time only to have people bringing integral parts of said meal arrive quite late, no grumpy mood swings, no no and no.
Today, my friends, is a most peaceful day indeed. We went over Cousin ‘O Love’s last night to help prepare desserts and stuff. Good thing GoL wasn’t in the kitchen (her choice – well, hers and the powers that be) to see us make our non-traditional sweet potato goulash. It started off as some sort of sweet potato and something melange but owing in part to the fact that we realized too late in the process that it wasn’t a cassarole and more of something that should be cooked just prior to eating, we created an on-the-spot goulash. MMM mmm, it’s gonna taste yummy (we hope!). If not, well, we will try not to make it again. :) We’re good like that.
Anyway, so far so good. I’ve done my chores, done some reading and prayers and just reveled in the peacefulness of it all. It’s the first thanksgiving in 15 years that I have not had to travel to Baltimore and I’m lovin’ it!
This year, I am thankful for so many things:
(On edit: actually, the sweet potato whatever-it-was turned out quite yummy! As did dinner and
dessert. Kudos to the cousin who did a wonderful job with it all.)
Best of all was that La was able to join us at the table, just a-snarfing her way through bread, buttah and mashed potatoes. MMMMMM MMMM
All in all, a nice laid back, chill kind of Thanksgiving.
