Luther Vandross, R&B crooner deluxe, dead at 54
NEW YORK (AP) — Grammy award winner Luther Vandross, whose deep, lush voice on such hits as Here and Now and Any Love sold more than 25 million albums while providing the romantic backdrop for millions of couples worldwide, died Friday. He was 54.
This makes me so terribly sad. Luther had what I consider to be one of the most gorgeous voices ever. I loved him since the minute I heard him and have a very large collection of his songs. Strangely enough, he’s been on my mind the past few days and I kept wondering how he was and that we never heard any more about his condition. I even contemplated writing to that goofy “Personalities” with Walter Scott column in the front of Parade magazine to see if there was any info. And then today I logged on to KOS and there it was in bold letters.
I’m sure Heaven welcomes his lovely voice – we surely will miss it.
Peace out, Luther. There never will be anyone like you again.
