Semi-Charmed Kind of Life

August 20, 2006 Written by Lisa

I’m not sure why this song keeps coming into my head but it’s been there every morning when I wake up. If I recall correctly, I think it was about addiction to crystal meth (check here for the 80 other interpretations of meanings if you’ve got nothing better to do with you time.) Whatever. I am pretty sure I don’t have a CM addiction (as I would be thin and have a sparkling house) but I like the song, just the same.

So, yeah. I do have a semi-charmed kind of life (baby!). Sometimes, when I am mopey and grumpy and all, I forget that. But most times, I know I am fortunate beyond measure.

Last night, Justin and I baked a cake for today’s party and later made some brownies (mmmm). I wish I had pics of him licking the spatula from the brownie mix. It was pretty funny. We were going to pass off our efforts as homemade but knew La would frown on us lying like that so we’re not. Boxed all the way. And that’s okay. (/stuart smalley voice) While Duty played online poker (giving us updates on his progress periodically), we watched Tivo’d eps of 30 Days and MSNBC Countdown.

I love having Justin here. Is it too goofy to admit that I like to imagine him as our son and we are a little family once in a while? Hope not. Because if it is, just pretend I didn’t say it. Can’t ruin my rep of monster coolness (ha! in my mind I have that rep. Not IRL). Miss Emma adopted him as her boyfriend of the moment on Friday and made him play with her in the pool until she wore him out. I told him it was good practice at learning NOW how to set a boundary when a girl gives you the puppy dog eyes. (I have a feeling he will be buttah in some sweet girl’s hands.)

Haha I have to tell you the cutest thing Emma said to me Friday. She was busy creating a picture for me to give my mom and I was blathering on asking her questions about stuff. She looked a bit exasperated so I said “Sweetie, am I bothering you?” and she replied “Yes, just a little bit. But I do still love you!” Hee! NG later told me that he’s said the same thing to her when she’s peppering him with a kazillion questions.

Anyway, better go wake the boyz up so we can start party preparations. It’s just an informal “come, bring kids and dogs and just play” party with cake, crabs and burgers. Hope the weather holds out. It’s just my family and friends who really love me (waves to Snuggles and HockeyKim) so they won’t be expecting a spotless house (given that, as mentioned before, I’m not doing crystal meth.)

Peace out, from this chick who knows she’s living the SCKOL.
