I love my Buick, even though I take quite a bit of ribbing about driving a ’98 Buick LeSabre.
This year it’s my turn to get a new car. The new Buick LuCerne is really beautiful, but I also like the Toyota Camry, the Lexus 350 and for a brief moment in time I considered a Mustang or Solara convertible.
Here’s the thing – I have a garage full of junk. My husband said I should get a new car in July before I needed to renew my registration, but I needed to clean the garage first. So, I actually started cleaning the garage 2 weeks ago and doing a mighty fine job if you ask me. I threw stuff away. I broke down all the cardboard boxes (I think I have a fetish here…there were an awful lot of carboard boxes!) and then my husband decided to help. He helped by taking the remaining stuff and stacking it against the far wall. Yes, there is room to park a new car, but the clutter-free look I was going for is not happening.
Now, let’s talk about car shopping. My husband is not a haggler. In fact, he HATES buying cars. When he made his recent Honda purchase, he was just going out looking. He went to one showroom and got the car that day. Imagine my surprise. I, however, have a friend who has haggling down to an art. She recently purchased those new windows for her home and saved about $20,000, so, yeah, she’s going car shopping with me.
Any suggestions?
Hey Mary!!!
I don’t know if LIsa told you but I just got a new vehicle and after YEARS (13 to be precise) of driving Buick Century’s … I got a Buick Rendezvous. This is the last year that Buick will have made them as they are “upping: to the Enclave for their SUV model next year.
Anywho … the Rendezvous is tres comfortable and I even had two REALLY tall adults in the back seat who swore they were plenty comfortable. The back is HUGE as I have my mom’s extra wide wheechair living back there and still have room for groceries et al.
Don’t know if you are an SUV type or not, but you will be able to find some great deals on 2007’s dealers haven’t moved yet. Also check out http://www.carmax.com where there is NO haggling, but lots to choose from. I know several folks who have bought from this franchise (they are all over the country) and have been very pleased.
Good luck in your hunt and good job on blogging.
Love,
Cathy in S.C.
P.S. Tell Lisa I hate this color. (puce green)
