Oh hi, kids. Today is wedding day in Fort Collins and as luck would have it, the weather is GORGEOUS! I hear tell that it’s like this most of the time which is one of the reasons I’d love to live here. Imagine the most beautiful day, perfect temps, no humidity and a slight breeze and you’ve got it here. I’m glad I came if only to experience the weather.
Note to self: three cosmos on minimal food does not a good next morning make. But those cosmos were so worth it. heh I even managed to behave myself as well so bonus! (This was the rehearsal dinner for family and out of town guests, btw.) The bride-to-be wore her grandmother’s wedding dress to the rehearsal – it was a lovely tan sort of dress and apparently amazing slimness runs in her family because that damn dress was tiny! I’m sure my arm wouldn’t fit in the whole thing. Another wedding preceded the rehearsal and the bridesmaids had on the coolest shoes. I made Niece of Artsy Fartsy take a surreptitious picture because they were totes awesome!
So yeah. I am all dressed and awaiting a carriage to take all of us to the church for the wedding itself. Then we head back (??) to the hotel and hang out until the reception starts at 5. Not sure why the lag time but there must be a reason and it’s not my wedding so I’ll go with it. I may go down and sit on the patio in the sun and take in the lack of humidity and read book 2 of the Twilight series. Bella is a serious dumbass in this one. I liked her better in the first book.
Anyway, look for some pictures and follow-up commentary soon. Oh, and Lauren let herself be known at the dinner (as I knew she would!). There was music playing in the background but it was low enough as to be just below consciousness. We were getting dessert when something happened that made the music much louder and guess what song was playing? “Float on” by Modest Mouse. So many of us there knew that was her song that we looked at each other and just smiled. She told me later (since she often talks to me from wherever she is) that she wanted us to know she was there. “How could I be anywhere else?” she told me. (Yes, I got a bit teary.) I told Cousin ‘O Love who made me go tell Joe (groom to be and Lauren’s big brother). Not sure if he believed me (C O’L does because she hears from La much the way I do) but she asked me to do it and that’s all that had to be said.
And gal, I shall do my very best to ensure that the Cubbies enjoy their stay in Colorado! :-)
Later for youse!
I didn’t expect you to check in with us. What a nice surprise! Sounds like you’re having a lovely time. Glad you heard from your angel Lauren. While the Cubs didn’t win today (Sunday), Lou got himself thrown out and that it very entertaining, so you can come home.
