From the edge of the deep green sea

This is a snippet of a song by The Cure called “From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea” – as brooding, turbulent and intense of a song as you’ll hear.

And these are my favorite lines from it – because there have been times in my life where I found myself in that turbulent place and tried to pretend it away.

Never never never never never let me go she says
Hold me like this for a hundred thousand million days
But suddenly she slows
And looks down at my breaking face
Why do you cry? what did I say?
But it’s just rain I smile
Brushing my tears away

I wish I could just stop
I know another moment will break my heart
Too many tears
Too many times
Too many years I’ve cried over you

If you’re inclined to listen to some intensely tortured music, you can check out the live version here.

(PS: This song came in front of me today and I was reminded of someone I miss – so this one’s for them, wherever they may be.)

Blah blah blah
I’m still here – just stuck in a whirlwind of my own creation
Please Mister Please, don’t play B-17

    Hi Jenn! Thanks for commenting.

How cute that the twins have good musical taste so early! If I had kids, I’d be blasting my Cookie stuff 24/7 although with my luck they’d come out of the womb all “what the hell is that?”. And, again, with my luck, they’d be into the Biebs. (horrors!!)

This song is one I ‘feel’ as much as I ‘hear’ it. You said their music is ‘enveloping’ and yep, I’d agree. Totally.

This one resonates with my heart.

Oh gawd, as a canadian… Biebs creeps me out and embarrasses me – wish there was a country we could send the people of society to so we never have to say oh… yeah he is one of us.. but you can have him.

The girls will be eighty’s girls – because when i hear good eighties music you can’t help but dance and feel it. When I play it they tend to start kicking so I like to think they are boogieing down too… but if they could just leave the bladder alone!!!

biebs and barney will be banned.. a tripple b !

My cure fix is now satisfied… I had to listen to a few songs by them to get there, but to me their music is enveloping and takes you to youth, dreams, memories.. You can’t help but fall deeply in to it.

I hope you found the same, and though you might be longing, could find peace in memories, dreams and youth of a younger time too.

Oh and the girls (the twins) have taste I have discovered. They liked the cure too!

    Hugs. JennW
