So, I was bitching on FB about how many posts I’ve started and then erased this week that were mostly whining or vague-booking. Cousin O’Love suggested something and VOILA! I ran with it. (We also have an official page: The Whine Line on Facebook)
I cannot tell you how many posts/comments I’ve started and decided not to share this week. That part of me that wants to whine about stuff and people is strong but the part of me that says “Do you really want to put this energy out into the world” usually wins. Which is a good thing because the answer is not really.
I wish there were a phone line for whining – I could just call and complain and the other person would say “I hear ya, girl” and then I’d feel better and could go about my day.
Would one of youse please start it so I can have such a thing? Please and thank you.
Thanks to Cousin O’Love (Comments, Corrections and Caffeination), I now own www.thewhineline.com wherein I will create a space for all manner of whining so that you can receive your “I hear ya” and go about your day like a normal person.
(Lord, I can barely do the creative work I have in front of me as it is and I added something on? Yes, yes I did. Who wants to play with me on The Whine Line?)
Wee Spirit Animal has had his hands full this week with me picking fights and stirring up shit online both in Prince FB groups and (as is my specialty) on political FB pages, so I wrote myself a love letter.
Dear Lisa,
As your wee Spirit Animal will tell you seven million times a day, stop wasting time arguing with others online about political stuff.
Yes, it gets your ya-ya’s out but mostly, it’s you being taken aback at what people choose to see (well within their rights, of course) and how it differs from what you choose to see and then arguing about it. How does that help? It doesn’t help anyone. We are all so entrenched in our beliefs for reasons that really don’t have to make sense to anyone.
You’ve now deleted two previous go-to sites that you thought were progressive because they seem to have made a hard turn into corporatism with their candidate choice. Not only that but they are actively trying to bring down the other candidate who represents real change.
Yes, change is scary. And change on the level we are seeing in this election, with so many consequences for all of us among the choices of candidates are challenging every belief we have.
Understand people are scared, that their sense of safety and security are being shaken to the core and that causes a lot of stuff to come rolling out.
Understand, too, that it’s not the best use of your time to argue with those who are as entrenched in their beliefs as you are in yours. There are other things to do that are far more coherent with who you are than spending your day wading in the morass.
You should go do them now.
Love and kisses,
Your wiser self with enormous prodding from WSA and friends.
Breaking News!
After not eating Cheetos for a month (because they’re so not in alignment with a smaller ass), I had a small bag today. I am excited to report that I no longer love them. Our brief love affair has ended, not with a bang but with a whimper (and a crinkling of the bag).
Now, to feel the same way about iced oatmeal cookies. Wish me luck!
